How hard is to recover from bad credit card collections?
Ok if you have a credit card go into collections 6 months ago, and have another credit card that is basically maxed and you don’t wont to make the several hundred dollar a month minimum so you stop paying. In 3 months its sent to collections so you then work with the collection agencies on both cards and get them squared away. How long will it take you to get to a good rating if you do everything right with your credit from here on out. I know 7 years clears a bankruptcy, but this isn’t a bankruptcy.

Is it better to transfer credit card balances to 0% card or get personal loan to pay them off?
I have about ,000 in credit card debt and was wondering if it would be better for my credit to get a 0% transfer card and transfer my balances or get a personal loan to pay off the cards. I am a recent law school graduate and will be able to pay off the credit card or loan within the next 6 months. Thanks
Thanks for the responses! The 0% balance transfer option seemed the better choice to me but for some reason I feel like I’ve always heard that it can really hurt your credit rating if you pay off cards by getting a new card (which is why I considered the personal loan option).
The reason I feel forced to choose one or the other is that I was recently late in making one of my card payments (with the majority of debt on it) and my interest rate was increased to 22%. As I am still searching for a job and have student loan payments coming up, I just can’t afford to make the high minimum payments right now.

I am a VERY small business, i accept credit cards but have a declined card…?
At the moment I am vending at a rennaissance festival and there is no electric available at this site so I have to call in card approvals. Although I literally have to drive 40 minutes to get a signal so I was calling them in when I got home. One of the cards was declined – for a about . Her bank slipped and said it was on hold for a late payment and to keep trying everyday. First may I say that I have a new pay as you go phone that gets signal in this area so I have learned my lesson quickly. I have her address and have sent her a letter. I also know where she works and have left 3 very benign, non threatening messages for her which she has not returned and I have tried her card everyday for 9 days (and will continue) all declined. I will call my bank to talk with them about what I can do but does anyone know what my options are? (short of showing up at her house and taking my stuff back!? which is tempting i must say)

Is there a credit card with no fee balance transfer and a 0% APR on balance transfers?
Hi,
I made a big purchase in June and that bill (,000) is coming due in early August. I wouldn’t mind delaying that payment somehow. I was thinking of transferring the balance to another card if possible. Are there any good cards out there for such a thing? (I always pay my bills on time and have excellent credit.)
Thanks a lot!

Transferring my overdraft to 0% Credit card – Good idea?
Hi,
I have an overdraft of 1250 with natwest. I Live in this overdraft and haven’t been in credit for a long time now.
I’m getting charged 47.23 in interest and charges each month, which could be better spent paying off the debt!
Is it a good idea for me to take out a 0% for 15 months card, using it ONLY to pay off my over draft?
I will setup a diredt debit or standing order to pay off credit card until its cleared within the 15months.
The card will not be used for purchasing or anything, ill destroy it once i’ve cleared the overdraft.
Will there be any charges or hidden costs i should be aware of? I never fully understand the jargen these companies use.
Thank you for your time
Rob
I’ve just looked this up…..
Virgin, 0% for 15 months. Longest deal, but with a 2.98% fee.
The longest deal available is with Virgin*, which lets new customers move debt to it at 0% for 15 months, with a one-off fee of 2.98%.
It’s long been a best buy though, which means many people already have the card, or one of its sister cards from the MBNA stable (inc. A&L). If that’s you, you may be rejected or given a lower credit limit. Plus be especially careful with MBNA cards to always make at least the minimum repayments on time, or you can lose the special deal and pay the standard 18.6% on all shifted debts.
This bottom part is what i dont understand…
Quick Stats. Promotional Rate: 0% for 15 months Fee? 2.98% (min £3) Standard rate: 18.6% APR for balance transfers.
Standard rate: 18.6% APR for balance transfers —–
is this the rate after the 15 months? Or will i have to pay this?

Can I cancel a credit card with a 0% APR within the intro period?
Firstly, I am completely opposed to credit. It scares me because of how much people go in debt to it. I want the card for a single purchase and then I want to scrap it. I’m looking into buying a Macbook for school and for mobile web design & photography work; stuff that generates me some money now. I’ve been looking at cards that offer no annual fees and a 0% APR because I don’t want to pay more than I have to. But I only plan to use this card for the Macbook and then I want to get rid of it and just pay the monthly fees. All of it will be paid off within one year which is how long the 0% APR lasts that I have been looking at. Can someone give me any advice? I just want to make payments on this computer and that be the end of it. I’m also upgrading my camera soon, so I’m selling stuff to afford that and I just want to use credit to get the laptop.
